If so, we are looking for you to join our Warehouse and Distribution team in Kempston.
This is a permanent position, on our 9 am-5 pm shift, Monday to Friday. Due to the nature of the role, you will need to be able to easily lift cartons weighing up to 15 kgs, as well as possess a high standard of numeracy, accuracy, and attention to detail. Based in Kempston (MK42), we have free on-site parking and are within walking distance to bus stops.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Oversee the day-to-day activities of the Warehouse team, troubleshooting issues and ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of the warehouse
- Monitor and improve the team's performance, utilising their skills to the best of their abilities, ensuring all tasks are completed in an accurate and timely manner and all KPI's met
- Encourage teamwork, continuous improvement, time/cost savings and environmental best practice within the warehouse without affecting quality
- Identify, set and monitor KPI's in conjunction with the Warehouse and Logistics Operations Manager (WLOM)
- Perform annual appraisals and assist the WLOM and/or HR in HR matters relating to the team, including back to work interviews, performance management and disciplinaries
- Plan, co-ordinate and oversee the daily work schedules for the team, utilising existing, or helping to create new reports to assist you
- Identify resource gaps and proactively work to address them in conjunction with the WLOM
- Undertake inductions for new warehouse starters and agency staff as required and ensure all relevant paperwork is completed
- Approve invoices and purchase orders under your remit, and be responsible for the accuracy of data entered into the WMS and accuracy of all records for your area
- To comply with and enforce all current Health and Safety standards, guidelines, company policies and procedures to maintain a clean, hazard-free environment
- Conducting regular safety inspections in conjunction with the WLOM, ensuring that any identified hazards are promptly addressed
- To identify any updates required to Warehouse operating procedures, work instructions and risk assessments and draft the amendments in conjunction with the WLOM, and train team members on new and updated processes as needed
- To take part in site inspections and audits and in conjunction with the WLOM, manage the completion of all audit points for areas under direct control
What you’ll need to succeed:
- Be a natural leader, with the ability and drive to lead, mentor and train a team
- Be organised, with great attention to detail and accuracy
- The ability to multitask, problem solve, meet deadlines and prioritise a changing to-do list
- Good communication and numeracy skills, both written and verbal, with a good command of English
- Experience of using a WMS and/or ERP system
- Able to communicate effectively at all levels from agency workers to key stakeholders
- Have good health and safety awareness within a warehouse environment
- Be able to operate mechanical equipment such as fork-lift trucks and hand pallet pump trucks, ideally holding a valid forklift license for Flexi and/or Reach trucks
- Be computer literate in MS Office, particularly Word & Excel
- Experience of performing annual appraisals, back to work interviews, performance management meetings, setting KPI's, and assisting with disciplinaries
- Knowledge of international shipping and/or working in a pharmaceutical environment would be advantage, but not essential
- Knowledge of GDPR regulations and Data integrity would be advantage, but not essential
- To be able to proactively identify any updates required to procedures and risk assessments and draft the amendments
- Have a friendly, outgoing personality
