Aeropak

Manufacturing speciality pharmaceuticals

Aeropak 750X494

Based in Great Yarmouth, UK, Aeropak has been part of the Diomed Group since 1998. The name provides a clue to the company’s origins: Aeropak began as a specialist packer of model aircraft fuel. That early expertise in handling flammable liquids created a strong foundation for a natural progression into the handling and manufacture of volatile pharmaceutical products -now a core strength of the business.

Today, Aeropak manufactures a wide range of pharmaceutical products, medical devices and cosmetics, operating to the highest applicable standards of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP). Aeropak produces many NHS medicines for Dermal, as well as a broad range of OTC products for Diomed Group Retail Brands.

At Aeropak, the Production Department turns bulk product into finished, labelled packs ready for use. We package products into a wide range of formats, including bottles, tubes (metal and plastic) and jars

.

To achieve consistent results, we use a blend of:

  • Automated and semi-automated equipment to improve speed and consistency
  • Camera-based checks to confirm packs and labels are correct
  • Unique product codes (serialisation) to support traceability where required
  • Manual packing when it's the best option for the product or format

Everything is packaged to high standards and in line with relevant regulations.

Quality at the Great Yarmouth site is managed by two teams: Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC).

Quality Assurance (QA) – "Are we working the right way?"

Quality Assurance (QA) focuses on the systems, checks and documentation that make sure products are made and packed correctly every time. This includes:

  • Investigating when something doesn't go to plan and making sure it's put right
  • Managing changes to processes, equipment or materials in a controlled way
  • Reviewing each batch of medicines packed or made at Aeropak before final sign-off (including Qualified Person (QP) certification where required)
  • Reviewing and releasing Medicinal Products and Cosmetics made or packed on site

Quality Control (QC) – "Does the product meet specification?"

Quality Control (QC) tests and checks materials and products to confirm they meet agreed requirements. This includes:

  • Testing incoming items such as raw materials and packaging components
  • Supporting production with checks during manufacturing and packing
  • Verifying cleaning through routine testing (for example, surface swab checks)
  • Testing bulk product and finished packs before they move to final review and release

The Planning Team coordinates work across Aeropak and the wider business to keep supply running smoothly. By aligning customer demand, production schedules and available capacity, the team helps ensure products stay in stock and ready for distribution.

Aeropak's Warehouse Team manages multiple storage buildings for raw materials, components and finished goods. The team supports production by ensuring materials are available when needed and finished goods are despatched on time.

Focus is on-time, in-full delivery to support product availability for onward despatch to customers and patients.
