Production Process Engineer

Due to continued successful development, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a production process engineer to join our highly successful and dynamic Pharmaceutical Manufacturing site in Great Yarmouth, where a wide variety of medicines and healthcare products are manufactured and released to the market.

Diomed Developments is a continuously expanding, fully integrated company, comprising research, development, manufacture, marketing and distribution activities.

Working in a clean manufacturing environment where the highest quality standards are observed, you will work as part of the Engineering team to improve processes, procedures, and efficiency of the team.

This position will be working on days.

Key responsibilities:

  • Identify and manage projects related to production engineering equipment that will enhance operational performance.
  • Conduct studies to understand and optimize process efficiency, cycle times, bottlenecks, and equipment maintenance, with the goal of improving OEE.
  • Liaise with equipment and material suppliers to develop existing equipment to support operational excellence objectives.
  • Prepare robust financial justifications for proposed improvements and changes.
  • Undertake equipment modifications where necessary and carry out testing to verify that desired outcomes have been achieved.
  • Support new product introductions by providing informed input about production equipment and component design.
  • Conduct line trials to support NPI projects and other product change initiatives.
  • Proactively contribute to component and product improvement initiatives that drive operational efficiency and quality.
  • Support engineering change controls, non-conformance investigations, CAPAs, and documentation updates.
  • Assist the Production Engineering Team in resolving issues affecting equipment efficiency.
  • Support the Production Engineering Team in enhancing overall effectiveness through refined processes, documentation, tooling, housekeeping, and training.
  • Support the project handover process for capital projects to ensure a smooth transition to the engineering team

Key Attributes/skills:

  • Minimum level 4 qualification in a technical or engineering discipline.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading machine design or machine improvement projects, preferably within a production environment. Background in FMCG or pharmaceutical manufacturing with exposure to packaging and production equipment is advantageous.
  • Competent user of Microsoft Office suite with strong IT skills. Experience with CAD software is desirable.
  • Self-starter with a proactive, can-do attitude and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively train colleagues.
  • Strong commitment to working safely and maintaining controlled, methodical work practices.
